PUTRAJAYA: Former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has completed another marathon session with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers here.
The Umno president arrived at the MACC headquarters here at 9.18am Friday (Oct 12) and left at 7.40pm.
“After a total of four days of statements, in which I gave very detailed explanations for a few accusations, I hope this is the last session.
“However, if the information that I gave is not enough, I am prepared to come back again.
“I thank MACC for their professionalism. I have explained everything and I have nothing to hide,” said Dr Ahmad Zahid to reporters as he exited the building.
He was allowed a break for Friday prayers, and he left the building at 12.25pm and returned at 3.10pm.
Despite the many hours spent being questioned, Dr Ahmad Zahid maintained his usual jovial self.
“Don’t worry, I am not going to run away,” he joked to reporters as he was leaving in the afternoon for Friday prayers.
Dr Ahmad Zahid is being called to answer allegations on the misappropriation of Yayasan Akal Budi funds.
He is the chairman of the foundation set up by his family to help eradicate poverty and provide Islamic education.
MACC is investigating claims that RM800,000 belonging to the foundation was used to pay off credit card bills.
He was first called up on the Yayasan Akal Budi case on July 3, and returned again on Oct 10 and 11, spending at least eight hours of interrogation each session.
