KUALA LUMPUR: A logistic company coordinator has been charged at the Sessions Court here with causing suffering to six cats six months ago, three of which died.
Nur Atikah Dzolkipli, 27, was accused of causing unreasonable suffering to the cats at a house in Taman Sri Sinar, Segambut here at 12.30pm on April 17.
She was charged under Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 (Act 772) which provides a maximum of RM100,000 fine or a maximum of three years’ jail or both, if convicted.
Nur Atikah, who was the person being summoned, claimed trial to the charge before Judge Manira Mohd Nor on Friday (Oct 12).
Federal Territory Department of Veterinary Services prosecuting officer Hasiah Musa offered bail at RM3,000.
Nur Atikah then asked for a lower bail, saying that she had financial and marital problems.
Judge Manira set bail at RM3,000 in one surety pending mention on Nov 14.
