Unofficial: Azmin leads in S'wak after results from 15 of 22 divisions - Nation

KUCHING: Incumbent deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has taken the lead on the first day of the PKR election in Sarawak, according to early results.

The unofficial tally from 15 of the 22 divisions which voted on Saturday (Nov 10) showed Azmin has a commanding 2,156 votes, with challenger Rafizi Ramli getting 971 votes.

Azmin is said to have won in Batang Lupar, Bandar Kuching, Lanang, Batang Sadong, Saratok, Lawas, Baram, Kanowit, Hulu Rajang, Kota Samarahan and Selangau divisions.

Rafizi, meanwhile, won in Kapit.

The Serian, Miri and Sibuti divisions went to Rafizi.

Sarawak is the final leg of the party polls, with another seven divisions in the state voting on Sunday (Nov 11).

State election coordinator Desmond Kho said polling proceeded smoothly but the turnout of about 30% was lower than expected.
