KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) will be postponing their Human Rights Day celebration on Saturday (Dec 8).
A source from the Commission confirmed this, but did not want to elaborate further.
A press conference on this matter has been scheduled by the Commission at 4pm on Friday (Dec 7).
Suhakam chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail had said that the decision to hold the Human Rights Day celebration on Saturday (Dec 8) at Padang Timur was decided back in October.
He said the date for the celebration was decided on Oct 18, in accordance with a date provided by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Razali said it was not a counter-rally to the anti-Icerd (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) gathering organised by PAS and Umno in Kuala Lumpur at Dataran Merdeka on the same day.
