IPOH: Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu welcomes the investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on an alleged plot to topple him as the Perak Mentri Besar.
Met during a khatan programme at Taman Meru 2C here Friday (Dec 7), Ahmad Faizal said he did not get any information about the matter but urged all parties to let them investigate the matter.
“I am prepared to give my statement if needed.
“Let’s allow MACC to investigate it and to take whatever action that follows,” he said.
It was reported that six Umno assemblymen have been summoned by the MACC to have their statements recorded over the alleged plot.
They included Perak Opposition leader Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Kota Tampan), Datuk Sham Mat Sahat (Alor Pongsu), Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Rungkup), Jurij Jalaludin (Lubuk Merbau), Maslin Sham Razman (Bukit Chandan), and Khairul Shahril Mohamed (Bota).
Saarani had claimed that a Pakatan Harapan state executive councillor had approached five Umno assemblymen at various locations in Perak and Kuala Lumpur to get their support to oust Ahmad Faizal.
When asked whether he was confident that his state exco members will not oust him, Ahmad Faizal paused a while before saying yes.
He also said the state Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will not take any action for now pending the investigation.
“Bersatu do not see any wrongdoings within the Pakatan exco members.
“If other authorities like the police think that there are wrongdoings to oust me, we will let them investigate it,” he said.
