KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry set up an independent investigative committee panel on Sept 25 to investigate complaints alleging negligence on the part of Selayang Hospital over the death of a patient, said Selangor state health director Datuk Dr Khalid Ibrahim.
The Health Ministry had taken note of the complaint that went viral on social media on Oct 2, which alleged that negligence had resulted in the death of M. Savunthary, he said.
“The ministry would like to assure that every complaint will be investigated in a transparent manner according to set procedures.
“The result of the investigation will be conveyed to the next of kin to protect the privacy of the family,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 3).
Savunthary’s family had alleged that the 56-year-old woman, who was admitted to the hospital for asthma on Feb 18, was injected with the wrong medication, causing complications that resulted in her death two days later.
