KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Finance Ministry has appointed Datuk Seri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani (pic) as the new chairman of Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) effective Oct 1.
Nik Norzrul Thani, whose new appointment was confirmed by PAAB in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 3), replaces Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali who held that postion since April 1, 2009.
Currently, Nik Norzrul Thani is the chairman and senior partner of Zaid Ibrahim and Co, the largest law firm in Malaysia and a member of the ZICO Law network with regional presence in ASEAN countries. Prior to joining ZICO Law, he practised with Baker and McKenzie, an international law firm in Singapore.
He graduated with an LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of Buckingham, LL.M from Queen Mary College, University of London, Ph.D in law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and is a barrister-at-law, Lincoln’s Inn.
Nik Norzrul Thani brings with him a vast experience in the corporate world, including serving previously as chairman and director of Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd, and of Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd and Perodua Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd.
He is the chairman of T7 Global Berhad (formerly known as Tanjung Offshore Berhad) and Chin Hin Group Berhad. In January 2017, he was appointed by the International Trade and Industry Ministry as chairman of the Malaysia-Singapore Business Council.
