KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says that an admission by Sarawak Report that they are unsure if he was responsible for the murder of Kevin Morais is too late as people already think that he did it.
“The blog has successfully influenced many people that I am a murderer by defaming and slandering me”, the former prime minister wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday (Oct 4).
This came after Sarawak Report published an article stating that they are unsure if Morais a former deputy public prosecutor – who was found murdered, with his body stuffed and encased in concrete in a metal drum – was indeed the person who drafted a charge sheet against Najib.
He also pointed out a line from the article which said that, “the purpose of the ex-prime minister’s attempt to dismiss Kevin’s involvement appears to be to dispel any notion of a murder motive linked to covering up those charges against him. He (Najib) may turn out to be correct”.
Najib said Sarawak Report was the first blog that allegedly defamed him for murdering Morais, saying that they had been repeating the accusation for the past three years.
Najib also pointed out that MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull had denied that Morais was involved in the 1MDB case.
