KK police bust drug syndicate and solve 13 house break-ins - Nation

KOTA KINABALU: A husband and wife were among four people arrested by police when they busted a month-old syndicate peddling drugs to addicts around the city here.

Kota Kinabalu City Police Chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said that they also recovered about RM50,000 worth of syabu (methamphetamine) from the suspects following the arrests at a shopping complex and a condo here.

Speaking to reporters Friday (Sept 14), ACP Habibi said that two male suspects involved in a drug transaction were first arrested at the shopping complex on Tuesday (Sept 11).

He said one of the suspects led police to a high-end condo in the city where they arrested a 19-year-old woman who was the wife of the main suspect arrested at the shopping complex earlier.

ACP Habibi said a fourth suspect who was working for the syndicate was also arrested at the condo during the raid.

They also recovered a plastic bag with suspected drugs from the condo, he said.

Police seized 450g of syabu, three vehicles, seven handphones, a watch and a bank book among others items. The total value of seizures is some RM150,000.

In an unrelated case, police arrested two local men believed to be involved in 13 house break-in cases over the last month in Luyang, Inanam and Tanjung Aru in Kota Kinabalu as well as Penampang dan Kudat.

He said the total losses reported by the victims of the 13 cases was about RM400,000.

He said the two suspects were arrested after a brief car chase by police after they were spotted along Jalan Sulaman here on Thursday (Sept 13).

“We are now trying to locate the stolen goods,” he said, adding that both suspects were drugs addicts.
