PORT DICKSON: School students here can now enjoy free online tuition to enhance their education.
Port Dickson by-election candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the pdtuition.com portal as part of his initiative for his campaign in this coastal town Thursday (Oct 4).
Anwar, who once helmed the education ministry, said it was one of the most fulfilling portfolios he had held.
“It was a very pleasant experience for me,” he said at the launch of the portal on Thursday.
Anwar also thanked his former teachers, adding that the love and values imparted from his educators has never been forgotten.
One of his former teachers and mentors, Tan Sri Dr Abdul Rahman Arshad from the Kuala Kangsar Malay College, was also present at the event.
“He (Dr Abdul Rahman) is an example – in my opinion, he is the best teacher who ever taught me.
“He was very strict, but his love for his students was extraordinary,” said Anwar.
Anwar added that when he was education minister, Dr Abdul Rahman had worked with him as the ministry’s director general.
He quipped that Dr Abdul Rahman had guided and even given him an earful at times.
I would also like to give my appreciation to the teachers and parents here,” he said adding that he hoped that both students and teachers here would benefit from the e-tuition portal.
The portal was initiated by a collective initiative by parents-teachers associations in schools here, as well as some non-governmental organisations.
Students from Year One right until Form Five from national, Chinese and Tamil schools will have access to all subjects available on the portal.
